(Sharecast News) - T42 IoT Tracking Solutions announced on Friday that it was joining forces with Sateliot IOT Services to enhance its connected container offerings.

The AIM-traded firm said Sateliot, a Barcelona-based company operating a low-Earth orbit (LEO) 5G internet-of-things (IoT) satellite constellation, would collaborate with it to integrate 5G-IoT communication modules into its existing and future container devices.

It said the integration aimed to connect more than 50 logistics partners to Sateliot's satellites, addressing the issue of coverage at sea.

The modules would monitor various parameters, including location, acceleration, temperature, humidity, impacts, tilt, light conditions, and container damage, ensuring secure merchandise control globally.

It said the combination of Sateliot's technology and T42's hardware presented an opportunity to revolutionise a sector that had remained relatively unchanged since the invention of the shipping container in 1956.

"It is unbelievable what a small hardware investment can represent for the industry's performance overall," said chief executive officer Avi Hartmann.

"This change has come to stay.

"There's no doubt about it and T42 has positioned itself to be a leader in this change over the next few years."

At 1246 GMT, T42 IoT Tracking Solutions shares were up 1% at 3.03p.
