Serco wins £140m security contract

Outsourcing firm Serco has won a contract with the Western Australian Department of Corrective Services to provide court security and custodial services for A$210m (around £140m) over five years.Serco will provide inter-prison transfers, court security services and the operation of court custody centres. The contract has two options to extend to a maximum ten-year term."We are delighted that the Western Australian Department of Corrective Services has chosen us to support them in operating their Court Security and Custodial Services," said chief executive Christopher Hyman."This builds on our achievements and record at Acacia Prison in Western Australia, as well as our expertise in providing this vital part of the criminal justice system in the UK," he said.---BC
