LONDON (Dow Jones)--Scottish American Investment Company PLC (SCAM.LN) said Friday that for the six months to June 30, it made a pretax profit of GBP2.4 million compared with GBP15.2 million in the same period in the previous year. MAIN FACTS: -Income GBP1.2 million (2009: GBP1.2 million) -Pretax profit GBP2.4 million (2009: GBP15.2 million) -Earnings per share 1.59 pence (2009: 11.3 pence) -The net asset value total return, with debt at fair value, was minus 1.1% compared to the benchmark total return which was minus 3.7%. -The total dividend for the six month period is up on last year. -A second interim dividend of 2.30 pence per share (2009 - 2.25 pence) has been declared, bringing the first half total to 4.60 pence, up 2.2% on the same period last year (2009 - 4.50 pence). -Shares at 0734 GMT unchanged at 206.3 pence.
