Design and engineering consultancy Scott Wilson has won a contract to provide project management support to Saudi Arabia's new Haramain high speed rail project.The UK firm, which will provide technical, specialist engineering and programme management support services to the Saudi Railways Organisation, is worth £14.5m to Wilson over the next five years. This first high speed rail programme in the Middle East is a 200 mile an hour 440km track linking the cities of Makkah, Jeddah, the new King Abdullah Economic City and Medina, as well as the International Airport in Jeddah. 'Saudi Arabia is a rapid growth area with continuing investment in key infrastructure,' said Scott Wilson chief Hugh Blackwood. 'Scott Wilson is delighted to be involved in such a high profile rail project which provides a further opportunity to apply our growing global rail credentials.'
