Russia:Rosneftegaz Has No Plans To Buy TNK-BP Kovykta-Interfax

MOSCOW (Dow Jones)--Russian state-owned entity Rosneftegaz, which owns 75% of oil producer OAO Rosneft (ROSN.RS), has no plans to buy TNK-BP Ltd.'s huge Kovykta gas condensate field in Siberia, the Interfax news agency reports Friday citing the country's Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin. TNK-BP, half-owned by U.K. oil major BP PLC (BP), recently said its unit Rusia Petroleum, that holds the license for Kovykta, had filed for bankruptcy. "Why buy something that is bankrupt," Sechin said. TNK-BP agreed in 2007 to sell the disputed field to state gas firm OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS), but the deal never materialized.
