The Restaurant Group, the company behind the Frankie & Bennie's and Chiquito chains, is confident of meeting its expectations for the full year but warned that conditions will remain tough. The group said it has continued to trade in line with expectations during the first 46 weeks of 2009, with like-for-like sales currently 3% below the comparable period for 2008. Total turnover is 4% ahead of the comparable period. 'Looking forward to 2010, we expect conditions to remain tough for our sector with pressures on consumer spending, including tax rises, fuel price increases and the threat of higher unemployment levels,' said the group.'However, we believe our distinct market positioning with strong brands, experienced and motivated teams, our focus on delivering consistently excellent levels of service and hospitality with great value-for-money offerings will enable the group to continue its profitable development.'
