(Sharecast News) - Housebuilder Redrow said on Wednesday that Richard Akers would be the group's next chairman, taking over from John Tutte following the publication of the firm's full-year results on 15 September.
Redrow said Akers will join the board as chair‐designate and an independent non-executive director on 1 June and will work closely with Tutte during a handover period leading up to the company's 2021 full-year results.

The FTSE 250-listed group highlighted that Akers has a career background in property and land acquisition, having spent his entire career in the industry, including a stint as a director of Land Securities.

John Tutte said "It has been both an honour and privilege to work for this great company and serve on the Board for approaching twenty years. It is now the right time for me to step down with the business in excellent shape with a clear strategy, strong leadership team and a sound platform in place to continue to take the company forward."

As of 0905 BST, Redrow shares were up 0.058% at 690.40p.
