HONG KONG (Dow Jones)--Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (RBS) said Wednesday it hired four bankers from Bank of America Merrill Lynch to boost its Asia equity derivative and structured products business. Peter Irvine, head of Asian equities and structured retail, said Abhinav Gorawara has been named managing director, head of equity and structured retail sales. Ben Wilder has been named director, senior structured product sales. Irvine said Cici Bian has been named director, senior structured product sales covering clients in the Greater China region, and Monique Sin will serve as director, senior structured product sales covering private banks. Though the bank isn't planning to expand into any new markets in Asia at the moment, "India will be a lot more of a focus for us in the next 12 months," Irvine told Dow Jones Newswires. The company plans to hire more personnel and expand its product offering there in the coming year, he said. Other recent hires include Yuji Sugiura as head of Japan equities, and Andrew Suh as head of derivative sales Korea. Stanley Ho was recently named head of equity capital markets Asia, and Simon Qu was named head of equity capital markets China. Patrick Ngan was named head of syndicate and blocks for Asia, according to a statement from the bank. -By Kate O'Keeffe, Dow Jones Newswires; 852-2802-7002; [email protected] (END) Dow Jones Newswires July 28, 2010 00:12 ET (04:12 GMT)
