Futura Medical said a number of potential improvements to the production process of its ‘erectogenic’ condom have been identified by Durex condom maker SSL International. The proposed changes to the manufacturing process at SSL’s manufacturing facility in India have the potential to improve product yields and the commercial attractiveness of the condom, known as CSD500 by Futura. In view of the need to review these developments, Futura expects SSL to lodge the additional data for CE Mark approval (required for export into the European Union) early in the first quarter of 2010.The regulatory timetable for CE Mark approval is expected to take between 45 and 90 days from submission. ‘Subject to timely CE Mark approval, CSD500 remains on course to be launched later in 2010,’ the company said.CSD500 is a condom designed to help men maintain a full erection during intercourse and is Futura’s lead product.
