Petrofac wins another Kuwait Oil Company contract

Oil and gas services group Petrofac has won a $430m (£269m) contract with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to develop a water pumping system that will help increase oil recovery.'The project involves the installation of a new central injection pumping facility and modifications to three of the existing gathering centres and seawater treatment plant,' Petrofac said. 'When completed, both effluent water and sea water will be fed into a central injection pumping facility and injected into the wells with the objective of increasing the oil recovery capacity in the Raudhatain and Sabriyah fields.'The project will start soon and is estimated to finish within three years, Petrofac said. It is Petrofac's second contract with KOC in two weeks. Late in July it announced a $400m contract with the company to build fuel gas and gas oil pipelines.'KOC is an important customer for Petrofac, and the water injection project announced today, together with the pipeline contract awarded at the end of July, enables us to extend our operations in Kuwait and further consolidates our competitive position in the Middle East,' said Maroun Semaan, Petrofac's chief executive.
