Petrofac partnership wins bumper contract with Algerian government

- Wins share of 650m dollar contract - Contract runs over 32 monthsOilfield service provider Petrofac has won a share of a 650m dollar contract to provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the Algerian government.The FTSE 100 group is leading a partnership with Italian contractor Bonatti to provide a 32-month contract to extend the life of the Alrar gas field in south east Algeria for Sonatrach, the Algerian state-owned resources company.Subramanian Sarma, Managing Director of Petrofac's Onshore Engineering and Construction business, said the development built on Petrofac's long history of successful execution in Algeria where it had been operating for more than 15 years. "Petrofac has a rigorous approach to project execution and we are focused on delivering an effective, safe solution for Sonatrach that meets our high standards."The scope of work encompasses engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning services for the development of new separation and booster compression facilities at the well-established Alrar field which has been operation since 1987. Petrofac's other EPC activities in Algeria include the southern fields development project for In Salah Gas, an association between Sonatrach, BP and Statoil, as well as the El Merk central processing facility that is to be operated by Sonatrach and Anadarko on behalf of the El Merk partners.
