(Sharecast News) - International software firm Oxford Metrics' subsidiary Vicon on Monday launched its collective experience virtual reality (VR) solution, dubbed 'Origin'.The company said the product will serve the location-based VR market, an emerging form of entertainment where participants share VR experiences in specific locations such as shopping malls, cinemas, theme-parks or museums."Location-based virtual reality supercharges the standard Virtual Reality experience, physically transporting users into imaginative worlds. With the launch of Origin, we can now achieve a true "suspension of disbelief"," said chief executive Nick Bolton.The AIM-traded firm said the Origin solution consists of several cooperating products, including a lightweight tracking camera, allowing users to engage in activities such as enacting a scene from a movie franchise, wandering the surface of Mars or playing a video game with friends.Participants appear as a fully animated avatar, can see and interact with their fellow users and use tools or props within the virtual environment."Our strategy for Vicon is to make targeted investments to maintain our market-leading position and extend our capability into new markets. The release of Origin does exactly that - new LBVR experiences are launching all over the world and with this introduction we have an exciting opportunity to capture revenue in a new, fast-growing market," said Bolton.Oxford Metrics' shares were up 1.16% at 74.35p at 1033 BST.
