OFT accepts Travis sell offs

The Office of Fair Trading has accepted undertakings from builders' merchant Travis Perkins that will resolve the competition concerns about the merger with BSS Group. There were no competition concerns at a national level but there were in 20 local areas. The builders' merchant has offered to sell off stores in these 20 areas. It says that this should not impact the attractiveness of the transaction. The combined business has more than 600 branches.The OFT says that the branch sell offs should maintain local competition at pre-merger levels.
