US oil company Nighthawk Energy hit a new monthly production record in January, boosting its shares.Nighthawk said it achieved average gross oil production during the month of 1,701 barrels per day at its Smoky Hill and Jolly Ranch projects in the Denver-Julesburg Basin, Colorado, against 1,556 in December.That equated to 52,737 barrels for January as a whole against 48,251 barrels in December, a 9.3% increase.However, Nighthawk said planned treatment to the productive zone in the John Craig 1-2 well and some minor weather related problems adversely affected production during the month."The John Craig 1-2 well is currently in production but it is anticipated that the well will require further treatment during this quarter," the group said in an update.Nighthawk also said completion and evaluation work was underway at its Telluride 13-2 and Big Sky 14-11 wells.Drilling of its Big Sky 5-11 well at Arikaree Creek was in the final stages and a drilling program was set to continue in March with the Snowking 13-33 well.Shares in Nighthawk rose 0.25p or 2.9% to 9p by 11.02 in London.PW
