(Sharecast News) - Phoenix Group said on Wednesday that Nicholas Lyons will be returning to the company and will be appointed chair of the board of directors with effect from 1 December.

Lyons had resigned from that position last September to take up the role of Lord Mayor of the City of London for a one-year term.

Phoenix said that after 10 years on the board, Alastair Barbour - who took on the role of interim chair last year - will step down with effect from 30 November.

He will remain on the board as a non-executive director until the end of December to allow for "a suitable handover".
