Nexen Shuts N Sea Scott Platform On Technical Glitch On FPS

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Canadian oil firm Nexen Inc. (NXY) has shut its Scott field in the North Sea due to a technical problem on the Forties Pipeline System, the company said Thursday in its second-quarter earnings statement. "Earlier this week, a valve failure on the Forties pipeline system required us to shut in our production from the Scott platform," it said. "The operator is currently determining the root cause and the nature of the repairs. While the operator undertakes this work, we are advancing our shutdown at Scott that was planned for later this summer." The production for the second quarter from Scott/Telford field averaged at 18,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day, according to the statement.
