New COO at FirstGroup

There has been a game of musical chairs going on in the board room of rail and bus operator FirstGroup with a new deputy chief executive appointed while another director has announced her decision to quit at the end of the month.Tim O'Toole, who joined the board of FirstGroup as a non-executive director on 7 May 2009, will take on the role of chief operating office from 14 June and will also have the title of deputy chief executive.Meanwhile Nicola Shaw is giving up her seat to pursue other interests outside of the group. Shaw, who is director of UK Bus, Ireland and Germany, will continue to provide strategic advice to the chief executive in relation to the UK bus business, a company statement said.O'Toole was previously managing director of London Underground and prior to 2003 was president and chief executive of US rail network operator Consolidated Rail.
