Energy supplier Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) said it has applied to the UK energy regulator, Ofgem, to receive accreditation under the renewables obligation for two of its onshore wind farm developments, Clyde and Griffin. With this application, SSE is poised to secure renewables obligation certificates from Ofgem in respect of electricity output from two of its principal onshore wind farm developments. SSE said turbines with a total capacity of 51 megawatts (MW) have been energised at Clyde, indicating that the first of the wind farm's three sections remains on course to be completed by the time the company reports its six-month financial results in November. The remaining two sections, with 220MW in total, are on course to be completed in 2012, SSE added. In Griffin, turbines with a total capacity of 34MW have been energised and the entire wind farm (156MW in total) remains on course to be completed in the spring of 2012.SSE said these developments have increased its onshore wind farm capacity from 775MW to 872MW, which excludes its share of Braes of Doune that it has agreed to sell."Project delivery is hugely important for SSE, in the context of our plans to invest between £1.5bn and £1.7bn in each of the years to 2015," chief operating officer Colin Hood said.Shares of SSE were trading 0.2% lower at 1,414p in late morning trade in London.
