International paper and packaging group Mondi said it expects underlying profits for the year to December 31st 2013 to be above the 574m euros reported in 2012.The company added that it expected to post a net special item charge of around €74m compared with €92m last time. Mondi said €68m of the 2013 charge was recognised in the first half.Basic earnings per share (EPS) for 2013 are expected to be within €0.77-€0.82 against €0.50 previously; Basic headline EPS €0.88-€0.93 (2012 €0.63) and basic underlying EPS €0.92-€0.97 (2012 €0.69)Mondi said it has disclosed basic underlying EPS, defined as basic EPSexcluding the impact of special items, as it believes this provides auseful additional measure of the group's underlying performance.FP
