TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Mitsui & Co. (MITSY, 8031.TO) has been asked by BP PLC (BP, BP.LN) to shoulder about $111 million of the cost for recovering oil from the broken well in the Gulf of Mexico, Asahi Shimbun reported in its Saturday morning edition. The Tokyo-based trading company has a 10% stake in the BP's operation. BP made the request in a letter dated June 2, but Mitsui hasn't decided whether to accept the cost, the daily reported, citing a source familiar with the matter. -By Kazuhiro Shimamura, Dow Jones Newswires; 813-6269-2790; [email protected] (END) Dow Jones Newswires July 02, 2010 22:06 ET (02:06 GMT)
