AIM-listed telecoms group Manx Telecom is to launch the first 4G mobile network on the Isle of Man this summer. The service, which will have a population coverage better than the rest of the UK at an estimated 95%, will provide speeds up to seven times faster than on the 3G network."Achieving 95% coverage on the Island means that the Isle of Man will be substantially ahead of 4G availability in the UK, which is at best available to 70% of the population as provided by EE in May 2014.Manx said that 42% of smartphones owned by its customers are already 4G ready."I'm delighted that we are able to bring 4G to the Isle of Man and with 95% population coverage," said Manx's Chief Executive Mike Dee. "The extensive footprint of our 4G network positions Manx Telecom significantly ahead of peers both on the Isle of Man and elsewhere in Europe."BC
