Kingfisher says new chief will start next month

Kingfisher's new chief executive is to take up her position next month, the owner of B&Q and Castorama said on Thursday.The company confirmed that Véronique Laury, who is currently chief executive of its French DIY chain Castorama, will replace Ian Cheshire as chief executive on 8 December.Cheshire will step down on the same date and will resign as a director of Kingfisher from 31 January.The group, which also owns UK trade counter business Screwfix and French DIY retailer Brico Dépôt, announced in September that Laury would succeed Cheshire, who has been chief executive for nearly seven years.Shares in Kingfisher fell 3.2p or 1% to 301.3p at 13:22 in London.
