(Sharecast News) - Video games specialist Keywords Studios announced the appointment of Robert Kingston as its chief financial officer (CFO) on Wednesday.

The AIM-traded firm said the decision came after an extensive search process, with Kingston set to assume his new role on 1 July, joining both the company and its board.

It said Kingston would bring with him a wealth of experience as a senior finance executive, with a track record in international and acquisitive technology and media companies.

He most recently served as the CFO of Flutter Entertainment's UK and Ireland division, and before that, held various senior finance and operational positions at Sky, spanning 25 years from 1994 to 2019.

During his tenure at Sky, he held roles including finance director of Sky's content business, and group director of investor relations.

Kingston also served as an executive director to the group CEO, and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

In addition to the appointment, Keywords previously announced that Jon Hauck would assume the role of chief operating officer, while continuing to serve on the board.

Hauck's transition to the new position would also take place on 1 July, allowing for a seamless transfer of responsibilities.

"We are delighted to welcome Rob to Keywords and believe he is the perfect person to succeed Jon in the CFO role," said chief executive officer Bertrand Bodson.

"His extensive experience as a senior finance leader within large, international technology-focused entertainment businesses will be invaluable as we continue to drive the future growth of our platform."

At 1341 BST, shares in Keywords Studios were up 1.71% at 1,899p.
