Keller Group, the international ground engineering specialist, has been awarded a contract by Brazilian mining giant Vale to build the foundations for a major iron ore distribution facility in Lumut, Malaysia.Work on the contract, which is worth about £30m, is expected to commence in March and to be completed in the second quarter of next year.Keller said environmental implications were a major factor in the choice of technology to be used on this project and its dry bottom-feed method for installing vibro stone columns clearly fitted the bit. Keller's technology protects natural water resources and farmland and has a lower carbon footprint than many traditional foundation solutions, the company claimed. The share price rose 3.15% to 422.5p by 13:15.
