JD Wetherspoon now selling takeaway coffee for 99p

(ShareCast News) - Pub chain J D Wetherspoon began selling a new product on Wednesday - takeaway coffee.For the princely sum of 99p, caffeine-loving Brits can get their fix at any of the FTSE 100 company's 950 locations in a takeaway cup.The chain already serves coffee to dine-in customers, with prices varying across the country.Wetherspoon's move comes as part of a recent rise in more budget coffee options, in a bid to take on the more premium chains - earlier this year, bakery group Greggs began serving posh, antipodean-style flat whites.The coffee at Wetherspoons is made from Italian Lavazza beans, the chain promised, and for those not keen on the bean, a cup of tea can be taken away for the same price.
