James Dean acts one month after Rathbones appointment

James Dean, a non-executive director at wealth manager Rathbone Brothers, has made an initial foray into the market, just over a month after taking on his role. He paid £15,224 for shares in the company, where Chief Executive Andy Pomfret has just announced his retirement after nine years.Pomfret has announced he will retire at the end of February 2014, with current Deputy Chief Executive, Philip Howell, has joined the board and will become chief executive on March 1st. Pomfret observed that he has had "a fascinating 14 years at Rathbones, initially as finance director and for the last nine years as CEO during which funds under management rose from £7.7 billion at 31st December 2004 to £20.8 billion at 30th September 2013." Dean paid 15,224p per share, with the shares up from 12,000 since the start of the year. Thor Mining's Executive Chairman Mick Billing contributed a third of a small placing the company made to advance its assessment of tungsten and gold projects in Australia, as well as to fund working capital requirement.Billig shelled out £38,000 on the new shares, as the AIM- and ASX-listed company raised A$200,000 (£112,000) at 5 cents (0.28p) a share.
