J Sainsbury Names Finance Director Shapland As Development Director

LONDON (Dow Jones)--J Sainsbury PLC (SBRY.LN) said Monday that Darren Shapland, currently Chief Financial Officer, will become Group Development Director on the Board. MAIN FACTS: -This new role, in addition to ensuring the Company's existing growth plans are realized, will lead the delivery of future plans and includes responsibility for new business development as well as Convenience, Sainsbury's Bank, Property and Group strategy. -John Rogers will join the Board as Chief Financial Officer. -Rogers currently holds the role of Property Director on the Operating Board, having previously been Director of Group Finance and Director of Corporate Finance and has 20 years experience in financial management and strategy. -Helen Buck is appointed to the Operating Board as Convenience Director, reporting to Darren Shapland. -Buck joined the company in 2005 and has held several senior roles, most recently as Business Unit Director, Grocery. -The changes will come into effect on July 19 -Shares at 1109 GMT up 0.90 pence, or 0.27%, at 332.6 pence. -By Iain Packham, Dow Jones Newswires; 44-20-7842-9269; [email protected] (END) Dow Jones Newswires June 21, 2010 07:12 ET (11:12 GMT)
