AIM-listed fuel cell company ITM Power has won a 1m pound grant from the Welsh Government. The money will be used to create a subsidiary called ITM Motive in Wales to help with the establishment of a hydrogen refuelling infrastructure in Wales.ITM Motive will set up a business development office in Cardiff and will work closely with the Baglan Hydrogen Energy Centre at the University of Wales and clean energy consultancy Ynni Glan on the development of a Welsh hydrogen refuelling infrastructure.John Newton, business development manager at ITM Power, has been appointed as managing director of ITM Motive. The Welsh Government plans to make the M4 in south Wales a hydrogen corridor with alternative energy refuelling points so that ultra-low emission vehicles fuelled by hydrogen become a viable alternative to petrol-fuelled cars.
