Informa reports steady trading

Specialist business publisher Informa said in a trading update for the 10 months to 31 October that its publishing activities remain resilient and that its events business has not seen any worsening in trading.Informa, whose publications include the shipping newspaper Lloyds List, said growth has slowed slightly in its professional and commercial division but operating margins have increased due to cost management measures.In the academic division, early indications look good for 2010 renewals, it said. It has been working closely with subscription agents and libraries in light of the challenging environment for academic library budgets, it added.While exhibitions and large conferences that have taken place have performed well, the environment for smaller conferences and training events remains tough.
