NEW DELHI (Dow Jones)--BP PLC (BP) wants to give up a coal seam block in eastern India's West Bengal state, the country's upstream regulator said Thursday. "BP has put up a request they would like to walk away from the Birbhum CBM (coal-bed methane) block," S.K. Srivastava, director general of hydrocarbons, told reporters. "In their view, the prospect is not good. A decision is yet to be taken on it." -By Rakesh Sharma, Dow Jones Newswires; +91-11-4356-3305;
