Housebuilding and construction group Galliford Try has scored two new contracts in the Midlands, England, worth a total of 48m pounds.The company reached financial close with Birmingham and Solihull Local Improvement Finance Trust (BasLIFT) to construct the new Birmingham Dental Hospital on the Pebble Mill site in the city.The £34m project for BasLIFT will see Birmingham's existing dental hospital at St Chad's Circus relocate and be combined with the University of Birmingham's school of dentistry.The group was also awarded £14m contract with the University of Nottingham to extend and refurbish the George Green Engineering and Science Library at education centre's University Park campus.A new three storey, 7,300 square metre extension will be built, in addition to internal and external refurbishment of the existing four storey library complex."It is hugely encouraging for our construction business that we are able to secure such significant work in the health and education sectors despite the economic climate," said Chief Executive, Greg Fitzgerald.
