Galliford Try CEO buys shares while his other firm sells

Greg Fitzgerald, the Chief Executive of Galliford Try, the FTSE 250 housebuilding and construction firm, has topped up his stake in the company. The director bought almost £50,000-worth of shares in the firm at the same time Crownway Builders, a company in which Fitzgerald owns 37.5%, sold off more than £2.57m worth. Fitzgerald bought 8,190 shares at 605.00p each, while Crownway Builders sold off 425,402 shares at the same price. Last week the firm announced that it has been awarded a pair of contracts by Yorkshire Water to upgrade the Blackburn Meadows waste water treatment plant in Sheffield.The larger of the contracts is worth £31m and will ensure that Blackburn Meadows meets the requirements of the EU's Freshwater Fish Directive. The programme will last around 18 months. The second scheme is worth £18m and will result in a new mesophilic anaerobic digestion plant; mesophilic anerobic digestion is the process where micro-organisims break down biodegradable material in a moderate temperature environment. The stock has gained almost 68% over the past year, equivalent to 249p.
