Hot weather in the south-east helped Fuller's, the London-based brewer and pub group, trade well over the past 16 weeks.Fuller's Inns saw like for like sales in its managed pubs and hotels increase by 4.1% in the 16 weeks to 17 July, while tenanted like-for-like profits were up 1%. Brewing arm Fuller's Beer Company's didn't do as well with own brewed beer volumes down by 2%.`Fuller's has started the year well. In the first 16 weeks of this year, ourManaged Pubs and Hotels like for like sales increase of 4.1% is again amongthe very best in our sector. After some glorious summer weather there areeconomic clouds on the horizon, but I am confident that our strategy ensuresthe company is well placed to deliver for its shareholders even in thesecontinuing uncertain times,' chairman Michael Turner commented.Simon Emeny, managing director of Fuller's Inns, has also been promoted to groupmanaging director from 1 November. He will report to Michael Turner, but will assume overall responsibility for the operations of the company, with both TheFuller's Beer Company and Fuller's Inns reporting to him.
