Imperial Leather soap maker PZ Cussons was wanted after a well-received trading update. The group said it is confident of a return to profitable growth this financial year, though conditions remain difficult in its core market of Nigeria and challenging elsewhere. Striking workers at Lonmin's Marikana operations are to return to work on Thursday after a settlement was reached late on Tuesday night, pushing the shareprice higher. Also gaining was housebuilder Redrow after it overcame the stagnant housing market, saying a 15% rise in selling prices had strongly boosted profits over the last year. Aquarius Platinum was firmly in the bottom spot, having suffered a challenging week during which operations were suspended at its Kroondal platinum mine, located near Rustenburg in South Africa, where tensions have been running high as a result of violent labour disputes. A falling platinum price was also doing the stock no favours.
