Shares in Polymetal International were on Thursday racing ahead after the group reported a record-setting third quarter which saw total gold equivalent production of 413,000 oz, up 30 per cent year-on-year. For the nine months ended September 30th, gold equivalent production totalled 972,000 oz, up 19 per cent year-on-year.Man Group surprised analysts with its first quarterly net inflow in two years, but expressed caution on the outlook for its asset flows. The hedge fund manager reported clients had placed a net $0.7bn of new money into its funds in the three months to the end of September after sales of $4.1bn exceeded redemptions of $3.4bn.Cairn Energy, the oil and gas exploration and development company, cheered investors with the news it will shortly begin the first in a series of wells along the Atlantic Margin, operating offshore Morocco. Also higher was wealth management group Rathbone Brothers, which said total assets under management rose 15.6% in nine months to stand at £20.8bn at the end of September. The growth outperformed a 9.6% increase in the FTSE 100 index over the same period.Meanwhile, shares in Renishaw took a hit after the group revealed a decline in revenue for the three months ended September 30th. Revenues for the quarter dropped to £79.0m (2012: £95.9m), although excluding major sales in the first quarter last year it experienced underlying growth of 9%.Also heading lower was Rank Group, which warned that full-year operating profits would be marginally below expectations after the hot weather in July took its toll on visitor numbers at its Mecca bingo halls and Grosvenor Casino chain.
