FTSE 250 movers: Misys surges on approach

Misys, the financial software provider, jumped 9% higher after confirming recent speculation over a possible offer. "The board of Misys PLC notes the recent speculation regarding a possible offer and confirms that it has received a preliminary approach that may or may not lead to an offer being made for the company," the company said. Shares are 8.53% higher at 417.3p as at 14:10 on Tuesday afternoon.Russian gold miner Petropavlovsk is going well after production was ahead of target in the first five months of 2011. The company said it would not need to seek additional funding for its expansion plans. RPC, the plastic packaging supplier, is firmly higher after revealing a surge in full-year profits. The group said that it expects further growth from mature European and emerging markets.Investors have given the thumbs-up to metals and alloys treatment company Bodycote's plans to open a new vacuum heat treatment facility in northwest Mexico in the third quarter of 2011. Charter International is recovering after Monday's sell-off, helped by a Panmure Gordon upgrade from 'hold' to 'buy'.Fund manager Jupiter Fund Management is among the falls after announcing a placing of up to 31.3m shares, representing up to 6.8% of the company's share capital.
