Mining stocks were dominating the risers list on the FTSE 250 on Friday as a list of economic data (industrial production, inflation, retail sales) from China improved the outlook for the world's top metals consumer.Precious metals producers Hochschild Mining, African Barrick Gold, Lonmin and Polymetal were among the best performers, with EVRAZ, Kazakhyms and Ferrexpo also making gains.Interim profits sank at property and casualty insurer Catlin causing shares to fall today. The company blaming rising interest rates in the US for the drop in the bottom line and said it still produced a strong underwriting performance.Balfour Beatty was lower with Numis Securities was weighing on the share price today after downgrading the infrastructure firm to 'hold'. Balfour announced today that it is to sell its UK facility management business to GDF Suez Energy Services for £190m.
