Irish mining firm Kenmare Resources was heading north after managing director Michael Carvill said the group is going flat out to take advantage of a 'very positive product market environment'. Carvill said the group is working hard to increase current levels of production, as market prices for titanium feedstocks and zircon continue to improve. Average prices for ilmenite increased by 30% year-on-year and for zircon by 38% in the first half of the year. Premier Oil was leading the fallers board after reporting that profits had tumbled in the first half of the year. Pre-tax profits came in at £32.5m, down from £111.6m the previous year, but maintained its production estimates. The booming oil market helped energy services group Hunting nearly double pre-tax profits in the half year to 30 June, but the company still saw a drop in its share price. Pre-tax profits were up to £22.1m from £11.6m over the same period the previous year on revenues up to £251.3m from £193.3m.
