Insurers Hiscox and Amlin were revealed to be broker Daniel Stewart's preferences within Lloyd's-based insurance stocks. Amlin is making gains, while Hiscox is heading the other way. Sector peer Catlin is also suffering a loss.The broker said that while the scale of the Japanese earthquake is indeed huge, in terms of an insured loss, it appears - at first sight - to be on a more limited scale than what might have been expected.A broker recommendation is also helping the share price of power provider Drax. Matrix said that the earthquake and second explosion at Japan's Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant may send global gas and electricity prices higher, which would be "most obviously positive for Drax," said analyst Adam Forsyth, who labels the group with a 'buy' rating.Housebuilder Bovis Homes didn't disappoint with full-year results towards the top end of forecasts, a first dividend since 2008, and an "encouraging" start to the current year. Engineering contractor WS Atkins is edging slightly higher after paying £0.79m for a consultancy and technical support team from RWE npower's Bellshill Technical Services group.JD Sports is in the red after troubled sportswear peer JJB Sports said its impending share placing will raise around £65m.
