FTSE 250 movers: House-builders fall on slower autumn sales

Service companies and house-builders were on the move on Friday after updates from several companies in the sectors. Rat-catching group Rentokil Initial failed to snare investors after it blamed currency headwinds and tough markets in mainland Europe for lower revenue and profits at actual exchange rates. Shares in Rentokil dropped 7.3p to 114.8p in mid-afternoon trading.Support services group Interserve fell 29p to 603p ahead of a trading update on Wednesday next week.House-builders and construction companies were also down as Bovis Homes and Galliford Try said the autumn sales pick-up had been slower than last year's. Bovis slipped 20.5p to 823p and Galliford lost 38p to 1178p. They dragged other builders down in their wake, with Taylor Wimpey easing 2.9p to 114p and Bellway backtracking 37p to 1677p.Miners were in positive territory after base metals held up despite the rising US dollar.
