Eastern Europe-focused oil producer Exillon Energy gained more than 15% on its share price after announcing that it has discovered oil at the south-eastern part of the East EWS I field in Russia.Ukraine-focused iron ore producer Ferrexpo wasn't too far behind, jumping over 14%, after revealing that its third quarter output of pellets was slightly higher than last year. The total percentage was up 1.5 to 2.33m tonnes, 2.8% higher than output in the second quarter. Cable & Wireless Worldwide was heading in the opposite direction after analysts predicted the telecoms group will write down of the value of two of its companies which it acquired before the recession, consequently making a paper loss for the year. Mark James at Liberum Capital believes the firm will reduce its self-valuation by 20-30% from its current estimation of £800m.Despite Mothercare's share price rising early on - looking as if it was attempting to recover from yesterday's sell-off - the stock fell into the red in the afternoon.
