Printing technologies firm Domino Printing Sciences soared 17% after reporting its best ever full year results following a strong global performance and the introduction of new products.Pre-tax profit rose 10% to £57.4m for the year ended 31 October 2011 while revenue increased 5% to £314.1m as customers increased spending on printing products. New products represented 20% of total equipment sales. Mobile phone and computer chip maker Imagination Technologies wasn't far behind after the firm reported a 52% surge in adjusted pre-tax profit, alongside strong licensing and continued royalty revenue growth. Adjusted pre-tax profit rose to £15.3m for the six months to 31 October 2011 from £10.1m the year before. Group half-year revenue was up 28% to £56.3m.Carpetright was next in line after its first half results. Hit by a challenging trading environment, revenues dropped from £248m to £238.4m, with underlying pre-tax profit down from £10m to £1.4m, equivalent to earnings per share (EPS) of 1.2p (2010: 10.7p). The performance was marginally ahead of the expectations of broker Singer Capital Markets, which had forecast underlying profit before tax of £1.2m, and EPS of 1.2p.Bus and train operator Go-Ahead followed suit after saying it now expects to deliver operating profit slightly ahead of previous company expectations, primarily at its rail unit, for the full year to 30 June 2012. Investec upped its target from 1,670p to 1,770p, and retained its buy recommendation. Meanwhile, Bovis Homes was among the fallers after UBS warned that the upcoming year will be tough on UK house-builders given the more challenging macro-economic outlook. UK house-builders have outperformed the FTSE All-Share index by 25% in 2011 so far, UBS notes, despite a difficult mortgage market. However, the Swiss broker has cautioned that "the macro environment is likely to become less supportive into 2012, with no GDP growth and banks facing increasingly difficult funding markets".
