African Barrick Gold was a top riser as the price of gold rose to a two-week high in the longest rally since August in New York.Pace gained after Barclays raised its price target on the digital set-top box developer from 320p to 450p and its rating from 'neutral' to 'overweight'.Energy stocks declined, led by RPS Group, after the UK's Energy Secretary, Ed Davey, raised concerns about profit margins at the country's largest energy companies. He has urged Ofgem to start an investigation into the sector and made a number of suggestions, including "a break-up of any companies found to have monopoly power to the detriment of the consumer".ITE Group, which focuses on exhibitions and conferences in emerging markets, slumped following a report showed business activity across developing countries expanded in January at the slowest pace in four months. HSBC's composite emerging markets index of manufacturing and services purchasing managers' surveys slipped to 51.4 in January, under the 2013 average of 51.7 and well below the score of 64.1 posted last January.
