Croda International, which makes speciality chemicals for products like leather finishes and sealants, has seen a 5.1% growth in revenue in its third quarter compared to the same period of 2010. Despite this, investors were unimpressed and the stock was the biggest faller on the index. Heading in the oppostite direction, electronics and technology firm Laird cheered investors with a bullish update showing strong revenue growth.The firm said that between July and the end of October revenue from its performance materials and wireless systems divisions was £121m, up 18% on the prior year. Aquarius Platinum was also on the up despite reporting reduced production of platinum group metals in the third quarter as prices fell.The company, which operates in South Africa, said first quarter output decreased by 3% from the previous three month period. Average prices of platinum and palladium fell by 1% and rhodium prices fell by 13%.New World Resources, the central Europe focused mining company, says coking coal prices for the fourth quarter will be 9% down on the third quarter, yet was still one of the top risers.
