Miners are propelling the market higher with nine out of the top ten performers in the Footsie from that sector. Eurasian National Resources says production was in line with expectations in the fourth quarter of 2010, although the ferroalloys division produced slightly more than expected.However, the best performer is tobacco company Imperial Tobacco. Underlying tobacco net revenues were up 5% in the final quarter of 2010, while it also saw increased cigarette and tobacco volumes. The group expects to pay-out 50% of adjusted earnings per share in dividends. Imperial has made a strong start to the year.Johnson Matthey says its underlying performance for the full year is expected to be slightly ahead of previous expectations after third quarter profit rose by 34% but the speciality chemicals group is still the worst performer on the day.Pharma company AstraZeneca has gone ex-dividend today. The final dividend is 116.7p a share but the share price has fallen by less than the dividend payment. TUI Travel has also fallen less than its final dividend payment of 7.8p a share but the travel operator remains well down on the week because of worries about Egypt.
