Higher metals prices are pushing miners higher but the Footsie is dominated by fallers. Xstrata and BHP Billiton are both higher. Xstrata reports figures next week. Rexam restored its interim dividend but this was not enough to prevent a fall in the share price. The consumer packaging supplier reported an improvement in underlying pre-tax profit from £135m to £198m. The interim dividend is 4p a share. Rexam warns that the economic outlook is uncertain and visibility of orders is low. Scottish & Southern Energy shares have gone ex-dividend. The shares have fallen more than 49p a share dividend. Investec shares have also fallen further than the 8p a share dividend warrants on its own. Engineer Invensys expects to deliver an improved performance in the current year, but its shares are lower. Invensys Operations Management produced a solid performance in the first quarter, according to the group, while Invensys Controls was in line with expectations.Oil and gas group BG is also on the slide after second quarter results showing revenue up 18%. Operating profit rose 6% to $1.53bn on revenue up to $4.13bn from $3.49bn. Exploration & Production chipped in $746m, up from $728m in 2009, but less than the $825m expected by Charles Stanley.FTSE 100 - RisersPrudential (PRU) 559.50p +1.27%Inmarsat (ISAT) 760.00p +0.93%AstraZeneca (AZN) 3,218.50p +0.93%Schroders NV (SDRC) 1,064.00p +0.85%Barclays (BARC) 342.45p +0.85%Marks & Spencer Group (MKS) 352.40p +0.80%British Sky Broadcasting Group (BSY) 716.00p +0.77%BHP Billiton (BLT) 1,982.00p +0.69%Xstrata (XTA) 1,038.00p +0.63%Schroders (SDR) 1,282.00p +0.55%FTSE 100 - FallersRexam (REX) 322.50p -5.23%Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) 1,122.00p -4.75%Invensys (ISYS) 279.20p -4.71%Associated British Foods (ABF) 1,049.00p -3.85%Intertek Group (ITRK) 1,607.00p -3.71%TUI Travel (TT.) 211.00p -3.43%Lloyds Banking Group (LLOY) 69.37p -3.38%Compass Group (CPG) 543.50p -2.60%BG Group (BG.) 1,035.50p -2.59%Investec (INVP) 501.50p -2.53%
