FTSE 100 movers: BSkyB on the up

British Sky Broadcasting is higher after Business Secretary Vince Cable had to give up the right to make the decision on Rupert Murdoch's bid for the satellite broadcaster. Cable was stripped of his power to rule on News Corporation's takeover of BSkyB after telling undercover reporters he had "declared war on Rupert Murdoch".Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt will make the final decision. The EU has approved the bid. Chip designer ARM has risen on the back of hopes for a new Microsoft operating system. Microsoft is expected to announce a new operating system for hand-held touch screen computers that would use ARM's technology. Cruise operator Carnival continues to rise after yesterday's positive fourth quarter earnings, which rose from $0.24 a share to $0.31 a share. Revenues rose to $3.5bn from $3.3bn.Oil services provider Petrofac has commenced work on the second phase of a contract in Turkmenistan.
