FTSE 100 movers: Banks push Footsie up

London's leading shares have moved into the blue thanks to good performance from the banking sector.Royal Bank of Scotland is leading after broker BofA Merrill Lynch said the bank could benefit from the economic recovery. Merrill raised its 12-month price target for the shares to 65p from 45p. Lloyds Bank and Barclays are also amongst the top ten risers.British Land, which announced today the purchase of a building in Baker Street, London for £29m, along with fellow real estate firm SEGRO.Telecoms firm BT and Cable & Wireless are also doing well. BT has agreed a deal with Orange that will see the mobile phone provider hand control of its broadband network to BT.Miners are lower with Xstrata, Antofagasta, Rio Tinto and Kazakhmys all down.Travel firms are down as flights across the UK remain grounded for a second day because of the volcanic ash from Iceland drifting across Europe. British Airways and TUI Travel are amongst the major fallers.
