The FTSE 100 index continues to head downwards although some financials are recovering. Drug developer AstraZeneca reported a smaller than expected increase in profits and warned that sales will fall in the coming years as major drugs are exposed to generic competition. On a constant currency basis the decline in 2010 revenues should be "mid-single digit". AstraZeneca has net cash of $500m and it is resuming share buy backs. Miners continue to head downwards. They make up seven of the ten worst performers. Kazakhmys reported lower copper production in 2009 but said that it was still better than expected. Shares in Rolls-Royce reacted positively after it won a share of an order from Jetstar Airways for V2500 engines to power up to 90 Airbus A320 family aircraft. The order is worth up to $1.2bn to Rolls-Royce if all options are exercised.FTSE 100 - RisersCarnival (CCL) 2,275.00p +1.74%Next (NXT) 1,954.00p +1.51%Old Mutual (OML) 102.90p +0.98%Inmarsat (ISAT) 678.50p +0.82%Schroders NV (SDRC) 1,003.00p +0.80%RSA Insurance Group (RSA) 128.80p +0.78%Rolls-Royce Group (RR.) 476.40p +0.63%3i Group (III) 265.00p +0.53%United Utilities Group (UU.) 534.50p +0.47%Admiral Group (ADM) 1,127.00p +0.45%FTSE 100 - FallersAstraZeneca (AZN) 2,888.00p -5.16%Xstrata (XTA) 1,007.00p -4.10%Man Group (EMG) 237.10p -3.62%Antofagasta (ANTO) 889.50p -3.42%Kazakhmys (KAZ) 1,225.00p -3.16%Anglo American (AAL) 2,306.50p -3.05%Resolution (RSL) 79.15p -2.94%Rio Tinto (RIO) 3,047.00p -2.70%Vedanta Resources (VED) 2,418.00p -2.66%Randgold Resources (RRS) 4,339.00p -2.49%
