BG Group has been boosted by yet another discovery in the Santos Basin offshore Brazil. The latest strike is at Carioca North-East, located in a water depth of 2,151m, approximately 275km off the coast of São Paulo state. BG has a 30% stake.Mining companies are rising again today. Anglo American and Xstrata head the risers. Therer are a limited number of fallers and they are dominated by shares going ex-dividend. Scottish & Southern Energy is paying an interim dividend of 22.4p a share. The share price has edged down slightly more and is 24p lower. In contrast, caterer Compass is paying a final dividend of 12.5p a share but its share price has only fallen by 6.5p.
